Certainly! To accept credit cards for your website, phone order, etc. you need two things: A merchant account and a payment gateway. The merchant account is the account with a bank that permits you to accept credit cards. The Payment Gateway provides a link between the merchant acct and your website AND the virtual terminal to manually enter a credit card transaction. When you apply above, you are applying for both. Once approved for the merchant acct, we will setup your payment gateway, via Authorize.net.

Your account can be up in as little as ONE day. This is based on your application being complete.

What is a Gateway? Do I need one?
A:
The gateway connects your website to the merchant account. It also provides a Virtual Terminal for manual order entry. Merchant accounts do NOT work without a gateway. Gateway providers include Verisign, Authorize.net, and Plugnpay.com. We are Registered Resellers for Authorize.net, Linkpoint, and Plugnpay.com. Unless otherwise requested, your account will be setup with Authorize.net.

We did not originally request Amex when we applied. How do we add Amex to our account?

You can add Amex to your merchant account in two easy steps.
STEP 1:
Call Amex Customer Service toll free at 1 (800) 528-5200 and complete an application by phone. You will receive an AMEX Merchant ID (MID).
STEP 2:
Email your new AMEX MID to info@paybyweb.com, being sure to include your business name and phone number.

Do I need to select which gateway plan I want when I apply?
A:
No. Once approved for the merchant acct, we will email you a link to your Authorize.net Request Form. When you complete that form, you will select which plan you would like.

Once I pick my plan, can I change to a different plan?
A:
Once we setup your gateway, we cannot change the fees. So, if you think you are going to process many transactions, pick the Gold or Platinum plan when you activate your account.

Are these the only fees?
A:
The fees you see on this page, are the fees you will be charged, unless you request additional services such as Recurring Billing.

Who charges the fees?
A:
Other than the activation fees for the Gold/Platinum/Ultimate plan, all fees are charged by your Merchant Service Provider and Authorize.net. They pay Paybyweb directly for our services.

How do I calculate the total fees charged for my merchant acct and gateway?
A:
Simply add the Merchant acct AND Gateway fees to calculate your merchant processing cost.
By clicking on the APPLY link above, you understand that you are applying for a merchant account with Paybyweb, in Association with First Data Merchant Services. If you don`t process $25 per month in fees (approximately $1,100 per month in sales), First Data will charge you a $25 fee. More importantly, if you don`t generate $25 in fees a month...you most likely don`t need a merchant account! 1 Merchant must maintain account for at least 8 months. Merchant must process a minimum of 100 unique credit/debit transactions via their Authorize.net gateway in a calendar month. Discounted fee structure of $14.95/mo and .20 per transaction will apply to merchants who do not qualify.

Optional gateway services such as recurring billing, e -Check, Consumer Information Management, & Fraud Detection Suite service are not reimbursed.
Merchant must complete Paybyweb's Service Evaluation form within 30 days of gateway activation date. A link to this form is provided to all new activated merchants.
Merchants will be required to submit their monthly gateway billing statement for verification purposes. Statements must be received by Paybyweb no later than the 15th of each month in order to reimburse merchant for gateway services provided the previous month.
Certain restrictions may apply. Void where prohibited by law.
3 Once approved, Paybyweb will build your Authorize.net gateway and provide your login/pw. By submitting your application, you authorize Paybyweb to build, review your settings, and activate your gateway, on your behalf. Gateway Activation Fees are not refundable once your gateway has been activated, subject to Paybyweb's refund policy.
